Normally found on longboards with one large single fin for hold or in retro fish/shortboard designs.
Most common in retro fish surfboards. Designed for speed. The modern equivalent is the Quad Fin setup
The most popular setup and best all round choice if in doubt.
Considered faster and looser in performance. The compromise can be in the way the board turns and in how it handles in certain advanced manoeuvres. A good choice to loosen up a larger board that was chosen for paddling power and stability. Most common in fish surfboards, some longboards and in shortboards used by advanced riders.
Allows the choice between 4 fin or a Thruster setup. The board design needs to be adjusted to allow the flexibility to handle both options as not every surfboard shape allows for this setup
